2009-2010

Six grants were awarded for the 2009 post-graduate and post-doctoral exchange program to young researchers working on fields corresponding to the DRUGS project.

Considering that this is the second session of the program, the PPP Evaluation Committee was impressed with the very high quality of the applications received.

She will be hosted by the Centre for the History of Sciience, Technology and Medicine (CHSTM) at Manchester University.

Arjo van der Hoogte entitled his project : 'German and British pharmaceutical firms and the global production and trade of drugs and drug standards in the interwar period, with a special focus on quinine and cocaine.'

He will be hosted by the Institut für Geschichte der Medizin Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the Abteilung für Geschichte der Naturwissenschaften mit Schwerpunkt Pharmaziegeschichte – Technische Universität Braunschweig, the Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine (CHSTM) – University of Manchester, and the Instituto de Filosofia – Centro de Ciencias Humanas y Sociales Madrid.

Lisa Malich entitled her project: 'Standardizing hormones, stabilizing emotions: The marketing of oral contraception as standard drug for premenstrual symptoms in Germany and France'.

Alexandre Marchant will focus his project on "an international comparison between two models of health public policies (France, The Netherlands, 1960's-1980's)". He will be hosted by the department of Pharmacy of the University of Utrecht, and the Descartes Centre for the history of sciences in Utrecht (the Netherlands).
